Our elementary program is named
KINGDOM KIDS
We are kids who live in the constant awareness that God is in charge.

In addition to the monthly Growing in Faith Together (G.I.F.T.) inter-generational faith experience, children attend age-specific faith sharing small groups. Second graders focus on the Sacraments of Reconciliation & Eucharist. Grades 1, 3, 4, and 5 receive a program specifically designed to enhance the G.I.F.T. themes. The same group of children and adults meet throughout the school year.

KINGDOM KIDS is offered on Monday nights at 4:45-5:45 and 6:30-7:30.
The children's choir practices from 5:45-6:30 on Monday evenings.

Emphasis is placed on the Four Pillars of the Catholic Faith:

The Identity of Christ

September's  Growing in Faith Together (G.I.F.T.) topic is "The Identity of Christ." Through a game at the G.I.F.T. event, we learned that Jesus is with us as we walk through life. He helps us to stay with Him and avoid the daily distractions that can lead us astray. At our fist KINGDOM KIDS on September 22, we got to know the other people in our small group and received our Bibles and prayer books. On Sept. 29th we read the Creation story (Genesis 1) and discussed how we are made in God's image. We also had music as a large group. On October 6th, we looked up Scripture verses that showed us Jesus' humanity and divinity. There is a mass on October 13th for all children and their families.

Communion of Saints/All Souls
There are three kinds of saints - pilgrim saints on earth, suffering saints in purgatory and triumphant saints in heaven. At the G.I.F.T. event, we made a butterfly/chrysalis craft to help explain the symbolism of purgatory. We had the Words Players Theatre Troup present a play about St. Francis and St. Clare. We learned about patron saints and how we are all called to saintly life.

Love of God and Love of Neighbor
" 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'  We are called to help others with compassion and love, not to just tolerate their existence. The Catholic Church proclaims that human life is sacred and that the dignity of the person is at the core of a moral vision for society. Our belief in the sanctity of human life and the inherent dignity of the human person is the foundation of all the principles of our social teaching. Various cooperation games have helped us to stress this point.
Advent Service projects:

Power of One – can $1 really make a difference?

Bernard Mpagazihe is a member of our parish. Before he came to the United States, he was a member of Karambi Parish in the Goma Diocese, Democratic Republic of Congo. Even seemingly small amounts of money can make a difference to our brothers and sisters in that part of the world.

For example: $ 1 can pay care fees for a child on a medical center visit
$ 1 can feed a family of five for a day
$ 1 pays half of the yearly school fees for a child
$ 1 can buy the basic school materials for a child

We will be collecting money to be sent to the Congo through December 15. It may be more meaningful to your child to send money that they help your family save. (Can they help clip coupons, do without dessert one night, or give from their allowance?)

Birthright – helping to support babies and families

Chris Chartrand, also a member of our parish, is volunteer co-director of the Birthright organization in Rochester. Birthright is an independent, interdenominational, charitable, tax-exempt organization dedicated to helping all moms and babies that need help. All of their services are offered free of charge. We are collecting new or gently used items for them to distribute.B

Please bring the following items these weeks:

Dec. 1 – diapers/wipes (larger sizes especially needed)

Nov. 15 – baby cereal or formula

Jan. 5 – blanket, baby toy or book

Jan. 12- new hats, socks, or onesies

Grace Flows Down

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound,

Amazing love, now flowing down,

From hands and feet that were nailed to the tree,

His grace flows down and covers me.

It covers me. It covers me. It covers me.
